Quarry Park Open 2025

The 2025 British Open - Sept 5-7

Maybe you have really enjoyed playing at QP, but have only visited the course when friends are around to join you.Of course, you can play on your own, but maybe you prefer to play with others, or maybe you want to play with better players and learn from them. If so, it's time to take the next step, and grab one of the following opportunities.
  1. Play the monthly handicap. It's usually the first Saturday of the month and meet at 10am for a round. If it clashes with a tournament, the date may change - e.g. it's 13th May this time. Organised by Gary O'Malley. Normal round fees apply, then it's £1 entry and £1 extra if you want to be in the ace pot. One handicap round on the 18 hole course, then a round on the short course which is just for the ace pot. Details are usually posted on the facebook group.
  2. Weekly league, on Thursdays, commencing 11th May. One round on the main course. Usual round fees, plus £3. Rounds are "rated" and if you join the PDGA you get a player rating. Apart from that there is a handicapped league table. This is organised by Richard Hatton of www.DiscGolfUK.com. Again, please refer to the facebook group
  3. Subject to getting staff to cover for me, I will be available for coaching to individuals or groups.
I should also mention that I have taken the next step, in terms of giving up my job at Warwick Uni to concentrate on disc golf. This does mean that it will be much easier for me to welcome groups on weekday afternoons before the course officially opens. I'm also taking the next step with the course, by way of a new pro shop and landscaping to the clubhouse area.

Quarry Park hosted the second event in the Midlands One Day Series (MODS) and attracted 40 players on a bright but chilly Saturday at the end of February. A few years ago a field of 40 would have been considered quite large for a national tour event, so it goes to show how fast the sport is expanding, especially as it came just a week after a sell-out national tour event. The MODS tour visits established venues and

21st Quarry Park Open 3-4th October, 2015

Sponsored by Prodiscus and Disc Golf Courses UK
Dan Ryan held off a strong challenge from local legend Derek Robins to win the biggest UK tournament of the year and take home £260. His 4 round total of 212 was 10 under par and 2 clear of Derek Robins. A field of  83 players smashed previous attendance records for a BDGA tour event and a payout of £675 was also a record. Most importantly of all though, it was a huge amount of fun and ran very smoothly in perfect weather.
Prizes were awarded in 7 divisions, with our very own Sian Lee ...

2014 was a great year for Disc Golf at Quarry Park and for the sport in general, in the UK and around the world. 2015 will be even better. I am hoping that we will finally get the go-ahead to replace the current buildings with a proper clubhouse. The planning application was withdrawn in December in order to make revisions, but will be resubmitted in January.
The 2015 Quarry Park Open will be held on 3-4th October, and we will also look to host a couple of one-day tournaments. The British Disc Golf Association calendar and event invites can be found

It was a beautiful warm weekend for the 20th Quarry Park Open on 20-21st September. 76 players came from far and wide, making this the biggest BDGA Tour event ever.. All 4 rounds were played on the challenging "Black Course" layout. The Open division was hotly contested, tournament director Neil Webber got off to a flying start with a 55 in the morning round, but was overhauled by Si Luard and Derek Robins who both shot 54 in the afternoon. On Sunday morning, Derek and Simon had lacklustre rounds allowing reigning QP and BDGA Tour champion Dan Ryan edged his way back into contention.
