360 Interactive Course Imagery

I am really excited to announce that you can now take a virtual tour of the course over the internet. Woo-hoo!!! It's similar to Google Streetview but 360 degree images were taken from atop an 8m mast at 3 points on the course. You can pan round and zoom in and out at your will. This is only the draft version, but I couldn't wait to let you see it. The final version will have hotspots with some text to let you know what tees and baskets are in the picture. There's also a new photo-map of the short course layout, and a revised one for the regular and championship course. Big thanks to Stuart Thorp at www.360imagery.co.uk for helping out with some extra features. Enjoy!!

New Short Course Open
Thursday, 13 October 2011 13:37

I am delighted to announce that we have installed 7 new Innova Discatcher baskets at Quarry Park which combine with new tees and 9 existing baskets on the top level of the course, to make a 16 hole Pitch & Putt course. The course follows the route of regular holes 1 to 4 and 14 to 18, but new baskets and tees have been added half way down most of the fairways. The average distance is just under 50m, which compares with 90+ metres from the existing blue tees.

The course will appeal to people who struggle with the longer distance holes; or to those who prefer not to play holes which are wet or close to the river; or to those who want a quicker round; or to those who want to practice their approach and putting game.

P.S. The November monthly handicap will probably be on Sunday 20th or 27th November. It's one round of 18 holes, all welcome. You don't need to pre-register, but it would be useful if you posted a note on the thread at the forum http://quarrypark.10.forumer.com

British Open Victory
Thursday, 25 August 2011 09:52

The 2011 British Open was held at Essex University on 20-21st August, and attracted players from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland and Norway. The Open division was won by favourite Markus Kallstrom (SWE), the Womens division by Sophie Southgate (UK), Masters division by Marco LeHousse (BEL), Amateur division by Quarry Park regular, James Luton (UK) and the Grandmaster division by Quarry Park's Derek Robins. The British Open was also part of the first PDGA Global Disc Golf Tournament whereby players in 14 tournaments across the world competed against each other for a global prizemoney payout. Derek had the 3rd highest rating in the GM division, averaging 989 over 3 rounds, and earned an extra $90 on top of the prize money from the British Open.
