QP Open

The 25th QP Open was held on 15-16th June, 2019.
It was the 5th event of the European Tour.

The Masters at Quarry Park tournament is just a month away. Unlike most events, this is specifically for older players, born in 1979 or earlier. It is a PDGA sanctioned C tier event with trophies and spot prizes for Pro and Am divisions, but no prize money.  There is no requirement to be a member of PDGA or BDGA. The invitation and entry form are online. It's important to note that Quarry Park is letting the course exclusively to the tournament director, Sue Underwood. This means that there is no casual play for the weekend; it also means that all entry fees are payable to Sue (not to Quarry Park) so please pay in advance to Sue as we will not be handling any payments through the QP Pro Shop.
Heavy rain in the run up to the 25th Open resulted in substantial flooding and we had to improvise some changes. Fortunately the short course provided some ready made if rather easier holes to substitute for black course holes 6, 8, 10 and 11 which were unplayable. Tony Ferro from Switzerland took first place and £240 prize money in the Open division, ahead of Icelands Blaer Asgeirsson. The womens title went to Norwegian resident Hanna Hugosson. The other winners in the Professional divisions were Bert Brader of Netherlands (MP40); Jean-Louis Tanghe of Belgium (MP50), and Sue Underwood of UK (FP40). In the Advanced Amateur division Arnphor Gylfi took top honours, whilst in the Intermediate Amateur division Quarry Park's own Andy Clarke finished atop the podium. This was a European Tour event and 13 countries were represented in the field of 90 players! Total prize money was £1595.
Huge thanks to Tournament Director and Sponsor Andy Malcolm, and to Richard Hatton of Disc Golf UK who sponsored the players pack discs and filmed alongside Gareth O'Neill for a video which will go out on Central Coast Disc Golf's Youtube Channel.
We got the course in great condition for the Open and will keep it that way for visitors this summer. The opening hours are currently 2pm to 9pm on weekdays and 10am to 6pm on weekends. Weekday opening will commence at 10am from 22nd July for the period of school summer holidays. Come and play!
The 25th Quarry Park Open is scheduled for 15-16th June and it's one of 9 events on the European Tour. This will attract top players from around europe and maybe even further afield! We expect that the Pro payout will exceed €2,000 and there is an extra £1,000 for a hole in one captured on film on hole 8 of the black course. Registration is via discgolfmetrix.com Spectators are welcome to view the finals on the Sunday afternoon, but due to lack of parking we are unable to welcome spectators before the finals.
It looks like the weather should be reasonably good for half term, so we will open from 1pm on weekday afternoons from 18-22nd February. There's no need to contact us if you intend coming to play. After this we will open on Wednesdays from 4pm. Regular weekday evening opening will recommence on 15th April, when the course will open from 4pm until sunset Monday to Friday, and 10am-6pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Please note that you should aim to complete your round by sunset, not dusk, so that we can vacate the car park and lock up before dusk.
Sad to say that the course was broken into on the night of 24th November, causing considerable damage to 2 buildings. The cost of the damage far outweighs the proceeds that the thieves will gain from the goods stolen.
I would ask everyone to look out for strimmers, hedge cutter and chainsaw, all made by Stihl, and all marked extensively with CV32 6RW and Quarry Park Disc Golf. In fact look out for any post codes and identifying marks on any such tools being sold off at car boot sales or internet selling sites. You may be excited to get a bargain buy, but if everyone reported the sellers of stolen goods, that would really make life difficult for these parasites. They also stole disc golf back packs, no doubt to load up with stolen chocolate bars and soft drinks.

Welcome

Welcome to the home page for the Quarry Park Disc Golf Course. Situated on Old Milverton Lane on the edge of Leamington Spa, this is a unique facility in Britain, in that the land was purchased and landscaped specifically for disc golf.

Disc Golf is a great sport or activity for all ages and abilities, and QP has been meticulously designed to be fair to beginners and challenging to pros. We welcome everyone from family groups and tourists looking for a fun frisbee activity, to professional level players from abroad. Disc golf is great for group outings too - we have had stag parties, sports clubs, scout groups, office outings, church groups, round table etc.....

What is Disc Golf?

Disc golf is a lot of fun and is similar in concept to traditional ball golf. The object is to get a frisbee disc into a basket in as few shots as possible.
