Disc Golf

The 34th British Open Championship in disc golf was won by Dan Ryan, originally from California, but now based in London. Dan started the day 4 shots behind local course pro Derek Robins, but gained 3 shots in the 3rd round on Sunday morning. Ryan overhauled Robins during an enthralling 9 hole final, watched by more than 50 spectators. Leamington's Neil Webber started the day in 3rd place, but slipped back to finish 6th.

In the Amateur division Quarry Park members Jon Tweed from Nuneaton and Mark Davis from Leamington, had a great battle for honours, with Tweed finally clinching victory by a single shot. In the Intermediate Amateur Division, Liam Fisk was unstoppable and won by 13 shots from Andrew Douse of the Quarry Park club.

It was a great tournament, held in fabulous hot sunny weather, with 48 competitors including 2 from Iceland. Big thanks to TD Jesse Denny and all who helped with the organisation of the tournament; and of course the sponsors: Disc Zoo, Catch the Spirit, Phil Wood, and Quarry Park Disc Golf.
