By Air
Birmingham
International (BHX) is only 25km from the course, and the transport
links are good, so this should be your first choice if you travel
by air. There are direct flights from many cities, including Oslo,
Stockholm, Copenhagen, Billund, Amsterdam, Paris, Hamburg, Stuttgart,
Frankfurt and many many others. You can see all the destinations,
both direct and indirect
From the airport you can
get an air/rail link which runs every 2 minutes to Birmingham International
Railway Station. From here you can either: -
(A) Take the train to Coventry, usually 10 minutes, and there are
4 or 5 trains every hour. Then get a bus to Kenilworth, Quarry Park,
or Leamington Spa; or: -
(B) Get a train to Leaminton Spa, which takes 22 minutes, and there
is 1 per hour.
You can enquire on all UK train
services here,
but they only have information 12 weeks ahead. You can
book on-line.
From the rail station in Coventry
you can get a bus to Kenilworth and Leamington which passes within
600m of Quarry Park Disc Golf Course. You can enquire on
bus services. They only
show the timetables for the next month, but you can see it's pretty
regular. Click on timetables and enter the X17 service from Coventry.
It runs every 15 minutes for much of the day. The rail station is
by the stop "Warwick Road, Stop SE, Rail Station Bridge"
It takes 20 minutes to reach the centre of Kenilworth, and another
10 minutes to reach the stop closest to Quarry Park, and 5 more
minutes to reach the centre of Leamington Spa.
To get to Quarry Park you get off
the bus at the "Blackdown Roundabout" and walk 600m towards
Old Milverton. The course is on the right. Just below the pink bit
on the map below.
Arriving From Other Directions
If you are using public transport, you have the train services directory
mentioned above. For long distances, trains are often expensive
if you buy your ticket on the day, but can be much cheaper in advance.
It's a bit of a mystery to me, but I think you do best if you book
as soon as tickets become available about 3 months in advance.
Coaches/buses are generally cheaper,
and you can enquire at National Express.
They operate coaches between cities and also to the main airports.
A return journey from Heathrow to Coventry costs £35
If you are arriving by car, or
hiring a car, then use the web to get directions. The post code
closest to the course is CV32 6RW. The AA site is one of many with
a route
planner.
